Yukon's Provincial Nominee Program: the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is the territory's provincial nominee program, run by the Government of Yukon together with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to nominate foreign workers and entrepreneurs who can fill labour market gaps or invest in the territory's economy. Most YNP streams are employer-driven: a Yukon employer that cannot find a qualified Canadian or permanent resident applies jointly with a foreign worker who already holds a genuine, full-time, permanent job offer. Yukon also runs a separate stream for entrepreneurs. A successful nomination lets a candidate apply to IRCC for permanent residence, either directly through the Provincial Nominee Class or, for the one Express Entry-aligned stream, through the federal Express Entry system with 600 added CRS points.

Active Yukon streams

• Yukon Express Entry stream — for candidates already eligible for and in the federal Express Entry pool (through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class) who hold a valid, full-time job offer from an eligible Yukon employer. Express Entry-aligned: a nomination adds 600 CRS points to the candidate's existing profile instead of granting permanent residence on its own.
• Skilled Worker stream — a base stream for candidates with a job offer in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation (management, professional, or skilled-trades roles) and at least one year of relevant work experience. No Express Entry profile or CRS score is needed; the candidate applies directly to Yukon with the employer.
• Critical Impact Worker stream — a base stream for entry-level occupations classified as NOC TEER 4 or 5, requiring at least six months of relevant experience and Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4. It targets labour-market gaps that the higher-skill Skilled Worker stream doesn't reach.
• Yukon Business Nominee Program (YBNP) — a base stream for foreign entrepreneurs who plan to buy or start and personally manage a business in Yukon. It calls for a minimum net worth of CAD $500,000, a planned business investment of at least CAD $300,000, and several years of relevant business or management experience.
